Every Day is a Good Day. Some are just better than others.

Each day has something special. I don’t care how bad you feel a day is going, there’s always something, just a little sparkle, that makes its appearance.

My late father-in-law always told us that “every day is a good day.” He told us every time we visited, until he left this planet. And we embrace this philosophy. We’re lucky because our “window on the world” is a beautiful one. Green and golden valleys surrounded by the towering Rockies, known locally as “The Bitterroots.” Things that movies are made of … and have been.

We are heading into holiday season, my favorite time of the year! Already we have frosty windowpanes, 20-degree mornings, crisp clean air. And our valley is known to embrace this season with a myriad of wonderful activities. We vow, this year, to embrace each one and visit as many as we can. Because there are so many, we have to try to squeeze in all of them, celebrating the smells, tastes and creativity each small town in our valley shares with its visitors.

Already we have enjoyed the first holiday craft show, where we found the perfect picture for over our mantle, and some candles from our favorite candlemaker, Pine and Sage Candles. Leslie, the candlemaker, is a master at mixing the most intoxicating scents. She’s also added wax melts, which makes me giddy because they are all made with coconut and soy wax. I no longer burn or melt paraffin, so I’m in heaven! I’m supposed to wait until Christmas, or at least until December, to burn these, but I’ve snuck them out and my house is a fragrant sanctuary.

On the work front, we’ve switched gears since our fabricating partner took a very lucrative job in another city. We’re so happy for him, but now have to take on that job ourselves. No problem, we’ve done this before. Our 5 acres will house a new manufacturing building (away from the house and chickens, I’m sure the hens won’t approve!), but for now we will be fabricating in our garage. Waiting on the parts to arrive, and we’ll be set to go. This also means the garage has been cleared out, cleaned, and for this year and part of next year. Which also means our car has to sit outside. In the cold, wind and snow. The Car? She can take it. Me? Not so much!

Today we are off to the Bitterroot Arts Guild’s show in the little town of Darby. Better known as the site of “Dutton Ranch” from Yellowstone, it’s home to warm and welcoming folks and full of small town charm.

Make your day count today! Grab of cup of hot comfort, find something wonderful, and embrace your morning!
