Falling for Fall
With great pomp and circumstance, autumn has finally set two feet firmly on the ground. He teased us in September, but we were not fooled. And again last week he took a leave of absence, forcing us to endure summer’s unending hold on the earth. But the leaves have changed, the air smells like that crisp fresh coolness you just can’t bottle, and once again every single window in the house is gladly thrown open.
The production on our Chimney Snake system was set to be completed by end of this month. Unfortunately, life happens. One broken leg and a prior work commitment has caused that date to be pushed. Whilst we are disappointed, it also gives us time to do what we need to do during what will be, as always, a short autumn season.
Here in Montana they say we have two seasons - winter and construction. If you add drying, freezing and canning, I’d agree. So while Brad is busy finishing up a large pantry, I’m busy getting root crops ready to store, and turning abundant apples into dried chips, pies, sauce, butter and crisp - and ready for the freezer.
We’re gearing up for readiness before the first of winter, which we hear is predicted to arrive in the next couple of weeks. By then we will start production, and we’ll be online. I know some of you have been very patient waiting for your chimney snake systems, and you’re on our list. Drop us a line to chat, or come on over for a nice apple crisp or some warm and gooey chocolate chip cookies. We always have room at the table for our friends and neighbors!
So go outside, breathe in all the magic that fall has to offer, and enjoy the season!
